Indonesia’s stock market experienced a significant boost in market value over the recent week, adding Rp409 trillion ($22.7 billion). This surge was largely fueled by robust performances in major banking stocks, leading the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) to rise by 4.24%, closing at 6,175.5. Meanwhile, the total market capitalization of the Indonesia Stock Exchange expanded to Rp10,749 trillion ($598.2 billion).
The upward momentum in the market was primarily driven by leading banks such as Bank Mandiri, Bank Central Asia, and Bank Rakyat Indonesia. These financial institutions saw their share prices increase substantially, making a significant impact on the benchmark index. Additionally, several other prominent companies, including Telkom Indonesia, Astra International, and Amman Mineral Internasional, played a role in bolstering the market’s performance.
During this period, trading activity saw a noteworthy uptick, with the average daily trading value climbing by more than 36%. Among the individual stocks, Asia Sejahtera Mina (AGAR) stood out with the most impressive performance, skyrocketing over 138%. Prodia Diagnostic Line, First Media, and Multipolar Technology also recorded considerable gains, contributing to the overall positive market sentiment.
The strong performance of these stocks and increased market activity reflect a renewed investor confidence in Indonesia’s economic outlook. With the banking sector leading the charge, it signals a robust financial landscape that is attracting both domestic and international investors. The gains across various sectors indicate a broad-based recovery, underscoring the strength and potential of Indonesia’s market environment.
