In a move aimed at enhancing Indonesia’s fiscal administration, Finance Minister Suahasil Nazara has delineated the specific responsibilities of three deputy finance ministers. This decision comes as part of a broader strategy to bolster the nation’s revenue collection, public spending, and regional funding management.
Deputy Finance Minister Juda Agung has been assigned oversight of the financial sector, international affairs, and financing. Meanwhile, Nurkholisoh Ibnu Aman will handle state revenue, which includes taxes, customs, excise duties, and non-tax revenue. Luky Alfirman is tasked with managing state expenditure, treasury operations, and transfers to regional governments. The allocation of these roles, according to Nazara, is designed to foster improved focus and coordination among the deputies rather than confining them to isolated areas. All three deputies, alongside Nazara, will continue to collaborate on overarching ministry management, organizational issues, human resources, and budgeting.
This restructuring follows the appointments made under Presidential Decree No. 104P of 2026, which saw the inclusion of Alfirman and Nurkholisoh alongside Agung to assist the finance minister. Alfirman brings a wealth of experience from his tenure as a senior official within the Finance Ministry, while Nurkholisoh brings expertise from his background as an economist and researcher at Bank Indonesia.
Nazara also highlighted Indonesia’s fiscal achievements, noting that state revenue reached approximately 2,341.5 trillion rupiah by the end of September 2026. This marks a 25.5% increase compared to the same period in the previous year and represents 74.2% of the government’s annual revenue target. Such financial progress underscores the importance of the newly defined roles in ensuring sustainable fiscal management.
As Indonesia navigates the complexities of fiscal policy, the government aims to maintain robust oversight and effective administration across different financial sectors. The establishment of these roles is a strategic step towards achieving more streamlined and efficient fiscal governance, crucial for the country’s economic stability and growth.
