Indonesia’s fuel prices remain some of the most affordable in Southeast Asia, as reported by the country’s state-owned energy company. The nation offers the cheapest RON 92 gasoline, known domestically as Pertamax, priced at approximately Rp15,950 ($0.89) per litre. These rates are notably lower compared to neighboring countries such as Singapore, the Philippines, and Thailand.
In addition to RON 92 gasoline, Indonesia also boasts the lowest price for RON 95 gasoline, which is about Rp19,150 ($1.07) per litre. This is a competitive rate when compared to Malaysia’s Rp19,822, Thailand’s Rp21,412, the Philippines’ Rp25,288, and Singapore’s Rp48,795.
The country also leads in offering the lowest aviation fuel prices in the region, at around Rp20,190 ($1.13) per litre. Vietnam follows closely with a price of Rp20,619, while Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia have considerably higher prices for aviation fuel.
While Indonesia ranks third in the region for diesel prices at approximately Rp25,200 ($1.41) per litre, it still maintains a competitive edge. Vietnam and Malaysia offer cheaper diesel prices, but Indonesia’s rates help underscore its overall competitive fuel pricing strategy across various categories.
These competitive fuel prices highlight Indonesia’s position as a key player in the Southeast Asian energy market, offering consumers lower fuel costs than many of its regional counterparts. This pricing strategy may influence both domestic consumption patterns and regional fuel market dynamics.
